World Book Day

Well, what a wonderful day was had by all!   Children in Reception and Nursery joined together to complete lots of fun activities.  Dressed as Archaeologists they went digging for bones and artefacts from the past.  They made volcanoes out of Mod Rock, cleaned rocks and investigated them and made fossils out of clay.
Children in Year One  looked absolutely fantastic dressed as either Aliens or Spacemen.  They had great fun participating in a Dance Workshop, researching all about Space and the Planets and making up a mnemonic to remember the names of the Planets.
Children in Year Two visited Shirley Library in the morning for a very informative session all about Shirley in the past.  They found out about how to join the library and listened to stories from around the world.  On their return, children were split into 3 groups and used the Atlas to find out about England, China and New Zealand.  They made scones, practised origami and even had a go at performing the Haka!

At the end of the afternoon, each year group had the opportunity to share their experiences of the day to the whole school.  This was a wonderful end to a very exciting day.
